In a home workshop, farm, garage, or small business environment, there is often a requirement for the operation of machinery driven by 3 phase induction motors where only a single phase supply is available.

The Transwave converter provides an artificial means by which a 3 phase motor can be operated from a single phase supply. 

A range of converters are available providing sufficient power to accommodate 3 phase loads between 0.37kW (0.5HP) and 22kW (30HP) from a 220/240v single phase supply.

The output from the standard converter range takes the form of a 380/415 volt 3 phase, neutral and earth industrial socket and plug. 

The Transwave converter also offers a single phase 240volt facility for control circuit and small auxiliary loads.

TECHNICAL DATA

The converter offers no inherent overload protection to either the motor or the circuit cable. adequate overload protection for both the motor and supply circuit to the converter is the responsibility of the customer. The customer should always ensure that the electricity system and cable supplying the converter is of sufficient rating capacity to allow the motor to start without causing undue disturbances as a consequence of voltage drop.

Inverters....A Brief Description

 

All ours 240v single phase input, 
with 240v 3 phase output and also 440volt 3 phase output

 

  240volt output inverters are relatively inexpensive, but motors need to be DUAL VOLTAGE (220v/440v) to be operated by them.

This will be indicated on the motor specification plate)

 

440volt output inverters are more expensive as they transform 
the input voltage from 240v to 440v as well as converting 
from single phase to 3 phase

It also has other features like 3 wire control so it can be used with the normal START/STOP buttons to control a machine and an advanced PID feedback function to allow the unit to control a process on its own. As an example you could program it to keep the water in a sprinkler system at a fixed pressure and this unit would alter the speed of the pump to maintain it no matter how many jets were turned on.

This is a VERY SPECIAL single to three phase inverter unit. The unit is special because unlike other solid state inverters (that output 240 Volt 3 phase and thus require DUAL VOLTAGE motors connected in DELTA to produce FULL POWER) this unit runs on a single phase 240 volt supply and outputs 415 volt three phase. This will allow a much larger range of machines to be powered in the home. In addition another VERY SPECIAL feature is that this converter offers SENSORLESS VECTOR control mode, this enables a motor to produce its FULL POWER even at very low RPM.

This unit is designed to run a three phase motor from a single phase supply it also lets you control the speed from 1 RPM to twice the motors normal speed either by using the inbuilt buttons or an external POT (avaliable as an extra). This is fantastic if you have the unit connected to say a lathe or milling machine as you have exact control over the machines speed. The max and min settings are programmable.

It features a programmable SOFT START to start up the motor in a preset time and this reduces the shock load on a machines belts/gearboxes and also reduces the power surge on the mains that can blow fuses without the SOFT START. The motor stop time can also be programmed to stop a chuck within a programmed time if required using the built in brake function.

It can produce 240 volt 3 phase output from a 240 volt single phase input and are suitable for the modern dual voltage range of motors and offer a cheaper alternative to
the 415 volt output models

This is fantastic if you have the unit connected to say a lathe or milling machine as you have exact control over the machines speed. Please be careful though because you could exceed the maximum safe speed for your machine. The max and min settings are programmable, you can also reverse the motor at the touch of a button.

The motor stop time can also be programed to stop a chuck within a few seconds if required using the braking function.

This unit will work with most types of motor but the motor has to be a dual voltage type, you can normally see if your motor is this type by looking at the rating plate. If the voltage rating says 220/440 then your motor is compatable, if you have any worries about your motors compatability then please contact me and I will help you to check if your motor is OK for use with this unit.

This special fully enclosed filter unit is designed to filter the 415 Volts PWM output waveform from digital phase converters into a sine wave supply, comparable to the mains supply. This will allow the output to be used to power machines that contain electronic equipment like CNC machines, digital wheel ballanceing machines etc.

It is advisable to have a filtered output when running a ring main around a workshop and also when powering very old machines where the insulation of the motors may not be up to modern standards.

This fully enclosed NEUTRAL GENERATOR unit is designed to create an N line from a 3 phase inverter output. This is required for some machines that use the N line to power internal 220 Volt circuits.

The lower Amp range of generators are for control circuits and things like machine lamps and DRO's. The larger rated units are for machines like flow solder machines and cleaning tanks where 240 Volts heating elements are fitted internally.

These are normally used in conjunction with a sine filter unit to create a digital phase converter system of large capacity, comparable to the mains supply to run a whole workshop, and will allow a ring main with 3 phase+N+E sockets to be installed, allowing almost any 3 phase machine to be powered up.
